Rote Ndao Regency, Sulutnews.com – Thousands of residents from Bo’a Village, Rote Ndao Regency, held a peaceful action by displaying posters in the yard of the Rote Ndao District Court. The initiative aims to advocate for an anti-hoax movement and show support for PT Bo’a Development, which is deemed to have fallen victim to widespread misinformation circulating in the community.
During today’s orderly action, residents carried posters with messages such as “Stop Hoaxes About PT Bo’a Development”, “We Need Accurate Information”, and “PT Bo’a Supports Village Progress”. Community representative Lukas Sau stated that the spread of false information has caused misunderstandings and disrupted cooperation between the company and local residents.
“We, as residents who directly benefit from PT Bo’a Development’s programs, cannot stay silent in the face of spreading fake news. The company has helped build village roads, provide employment opportunities for local youth, and support education and health programs here,” said Lukas Sau.
PT Bo’a Development itself has issued several clarifications regarding the circulating misinformation, particularly concerning land management and environmental impacts of its ongoing projects. On the same occasion, company representatives also submitted an official clarification letter to the court, hoping it would serve as a basis for follow-up actions against the spread of harmful hoaxes.
Security officers and police personnel overseeing the action confirmed that all activities proceeded smoothly without any disturbances. The action organizing committee stated that this anti-hoax movement will continue through public education on the importance of verifying information before sharing it.
