Rote Ndao Regent,Sulutnews.com – Paulus Henuk, S.H., along with members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and several members of the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), directly visited Bo’a Village, West Rote District, on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The agenda was to directly inspect the road access to Bo’a Beach tourist destination, a location that has been the subject of controversy regarding allegations of road closure by PT Bo’a Development.
This field visit is a follow-up to the results of the Hearing Meeting (RDP) held by the Rote Ndao DPRD on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, where one of the recommendations was for the government and Forkopimda to directly review the existence of the road to the beach.
“We came down to ensure whether there is indeed road access for the community to the beach. And it turns out, after we saw it directly, the road exists and can be traversed to the beach in the western part,” explained Regent Paulus Henuk to reporters after the working visit.
The Regent was accompanied by the Deputy Chairman of the Rote Ndao DPRD, Denison Moy, the Naval Base Commander (Danlanal), and the Chief of Police of Rote Ndao (Kapolres).
However, in the middle of the activity, the Forkopimda group was blocked by a crowd that closed the road using a pick-up truck, so the group’s vehicle could not leave the location.
“We were surprised because when we came out of the beach area, the road was already blocked by a car by friends who usually take action. Even though we had agreed in the RDP to resolve this issue in a good way,” said the Regent.
According to him, the road blockade action shows that there are still parties who are not consistent with the joint agreement. The government, said Paulus, is trying to continue to promote restorative justice and persuasion approaches, but if this continues to be ignored, the issue will be fully submitted to the legal process.
“If the community does not want to listen to the government, nor the DPRD, nor law enforcement officials, then let the legal process run. We have gone down directly four times to find a peaceful solution, but if it is still ignored, of course, there will be consequences,” he asserted.
